Hi, this is Wayne Phillips for the SummitClimb Everest View Glacier School.

Christian, Sarantis, Fred, Thomas, Hilman, Liam, Abhi and I are on the top of Lobuche East!

We left high camp at 2:30 a.m. after waking up at 1:30 a.m. to get ready, pack up, and move out. We all had snacks together and then headed off.

We walked in the dark for about 4 hours until the sun started coming up. Everyone was really knackered walking through rocks all the way. We finally hit the snowline and then doubled in energy levels.

We all made it up to the summit and are sitting on top of the peak right at this moment taking photographs and thinking of our loved ones. I’m looking at the rest of the world at this moment actually.

 I think everyone has enjoyed the whole climb and now we just need to work out getting down. It will be pretty tough from where we’re sitting at the moment.

We’ve had a great time so far. This means that most of us will be going home now, while others continue on our Everest Basecamp extension trek. It’s been a great time and we’ll see you all soon. Ok, thank you very much. See you later. Bye. back to top

Hi, this is Wayne Phillips calling in for the SummitClimb Everest View Glacier School with Liam, Fred, Christian, Fred, Hilman, Sarantis, Thomas, and Abhi our guide.

We trekked from the Cho La Glacier after our practice a couple of days back to our basecamp at Lobuche East. We then trekked up a hill and we’re now at our high camp near a beautiful lake. We’re all packing up and getting ready for our ascent up to the summit of Lobuche East, leaving camp at 2:30 a.m.

We’re all well and nobody is complaining about anything. Everyone is being looked after wonderfully and we’re having a great time. It’s been freezing at night and pretty cold, but we’re getting through it.

We all miss our family and friends and can’t wait to see you. Have fun and we’ll speak to you again soon. Bye, bye. back to top

Hi, this is Abhi, the leader of the SummitClimb Everest View Glacier School calling from Lobuche East basecamp.

We moved from Cho La basecamp today and arrived in Lobuche basecamp this afternoon. It was a nice sunny day, so we all had a rest and played some baseball in basecamp. Hi, this is Thomas from the SummitClimb Everest View Glacier School.

We have just finished our 3^rd day of glacier training. Today we did a bit of rope work and abseiling. Other than that, we kept our bodies warm in the sun. Our fellow members, Liam and Wayne, went up to the glacier for a bit of ice training.

Hi, this is Fred from the SummitClimb Everest View Glacier School.

We are currently at Cho La basecamp. We had a wonderful day up in the mountains doing some training with Abhi and worked on some ascending, ice climbing, abseiling, crampon use, and rope work. It was a beautiful day. Everyone is in good health and good spirits and we’re definitely excited to make our summit attempt in a few days. Thank you. Bye.

Hi, this is Wayne Phillips speaking for Liam, Cal and Lance for the Everest Basecamp Trek.

We split up from the ice climbing team 3 days back. We walked up to Gorak Shep and went up Kala Pattar, which was quite a tough climb. Then we went on to Everest basecamp and had a quick exploration of the Khumbu ice-fall there.  Now we’ve made our way back to Fred and the team here at Cho La basecamp. We should be climbing up Lobuche East in the next couple of days. We’re all well and we’ll see you all soon. Cheers. Bye, bye. back to top

Hello, this is Wayne Phillips calling in for the SummitClimb Everest View Glacier School and Basecamp Trek that left Kathmandu on the 7^th of October.

Today is the 15^th of October. We haven’t been able to send in any messages until now because we were having troubles with our satellite communication.

Everyone is doing well. We flew from Kathmandu to Lukla, trekking to Phakding. Then we trekked up to Namche Bazaar, which I think was the toughest portion of the trip so far. It was pretty painful getting up the path, but we made it in the end. We had a couple headaches along the way, but everyone seems to be doing well.

We then went on to Tengboche where we stayed the night before going to Pheriche and staying the night as well. We are now at Dughla, which is at about 4620 metres/15,150 feet. Soon we’re going to be climbing on the Cho La, followed by Lobuche East.

Our team consists of me and Liam, Hilman, Christian, Fred, Thomas, and Sarantis, as well as our basecamp trekkers, Calvin and Lance.

So we’re all well and about to leave to go up to Dzongla before doing our training on the Cho La. We’d like to say hello to all of our friends and families. We’ll try to send in another update soon. Cheers. Bye, bye. back to top
