Greetings to all Climbing and Trekking Friends. Did you do anything special on 21 June for the summer solstice, the longest day of the year? Here, we boated upon the Pacific ocean in gorgeous sunshine to our local farmer's market, walked on the beach, ate dinner with family, and stayed up late around the camp fire telling stories. Are you following the FIFA World Cup? Some exciting surprises and action to be sure.

Remote Unspoiled Everest Circuit: Mera Peak Trek, Baruntse Climb, and Amphu Labtsa Pass Crossing.

You and friends are invited: Our epic 18, 22, or 32 day journey is led by knowledgable and friendly Mount Baruntse and Mera Peak expert Dan Mazur with accomplished and helpful Sherpas. Featuring world class climbing and trekking, inspiring views, untouched natural habitats abounding with birds, wildlife and grand snowy peaks all in a less travelled and quiet domain, away from the crowds. Join us for all or part of our grand circle climb and trek through the Everest region during October and November 2014. Traverse the most remote and unspoiled part of the Everest region, where the famous easy Mera Trekking Peak and Mount Baruntse, Nepal's "easiest" 7000 metre / 23,000 foot peak and the classic Amphu Labtsa Pass all lie in the shadow of mighty Mount Everest.

History and location of Mera Peak and Mount Baruntse: Because it is located just a few kilometres/miles away from the main path to Mount Everest, the Mera Peak and Baruntse region remained unknown and untouched until exploration in the 1950s by Sir Edmund Hillary and Eric Shipton. The first ascent of Mera Peak Central was finally accomplished in 1953 by Tenzing Sherpa and British Army Colonel Jimmy Roberts who invented "trekking" in Nepal. Baruntse was first climbed in 1954 by a New Zealand expedition led by Sir Edmund Hillary himself.

Start your trip with a trek to the base of Mera Peak: Our walk begins with a gorgeous flight to the Mount Everest  region from Kathmandu, Nepal's exotic and peaceful temple city, to the hilly green airport of Lukla, nestled in a 2800 metre, 9400 foot high valley. We join a fully catered and lovely gem of a trek through unspoiled small mountains and ancient forests, where wild birds and animals abound, to Mera Peak, Nepal's most famous "trekking peak". You can return to Lukla from here, or carry on to walk to the top of Mera Peak.

For those of us who will ascend Mera Peak, it is an easy snow walk to the top of this 6500 metre, 21,000 foot high mountain with the best views of Everest, and we even spend an extra day resting in basecamp and practicing our snow climbing techniques before we go up. Each year we have a few snowboarders and skiiers join us on Mera Peak and it is very fun to watch them. After climbing Mera Peak, some members might choose to wander the green valleys back to Lukla.

Next Stop: Mount Baruntse: Our Grand Circle Team carries on to climb Mount Baruntse, which is known as Nepal's "easiest" 7000 metre, 23,000 foot peak, a lovely snowy ridge ascent on strong ropes, offering something for beginners and experts alike, with expansive views of the entire Everest region. In fact, this Baruntse expedition is excellent preparation for someone thinking about attempting Everest. After scaling Baruntse, we undertake an epic crossing of the Amphu Labtsa Pass at 5800 metres, 19,000 foot high. Finishing a stunning day of glacier travel and abseiling/ rapelling fixed ropes down good solid rock and snow slopes, we reach the floor of the Khumbu Valley. We now find ourselves walking down the famous wide and comfortable Everest Base Camp Trek trail and it is finally time to enjoy a relaxing three day trek, with comfortable lodging, yummy food, delicious chocolate cake, fragrant espresso and delicious cups of tea and thirst quenching cold beverages, back down to Lukla for the return flight to Kathmandu and home. Congratulations! You have completed an amazing circle of the Everest region, all in just 32 days.

Option for Climbing Island Peak and Ama Dablam: Along the way down the Everest path to Lukla, we will pass such classic landmarks as Namche Bazaar and Mount Ama Dablam.  Some of our members will return home, while some will stay on and climb Ama Dablam, Asia's most famous rock, ice, and snow climb, and the Matterhorn of the Himalaya. Others will Trek up to Everest Base Camp or climb Island Peak for more "trekking peak" adventures.
