Everest Diamond Jubilee. Summer and Autumn Himalayan Trips

Greetings Mountain Friends, I hope June is treating you well. How have you been and are you ready for upcoming adventures? My name is Dan Mazur, I work for SummitClimb and SummitTrek. I am just back from leading our Diamond Jubilee Mount Everest Nepal ascent with a team of men and women of all ages and abilities, and expert friendly Sherpas. I would like to congratulate all of the team members and thank their families, friends, and colleagues for their strong support. We are very grateful.

100% of my team on Everest Nepal reached the summit in all safety! For the ascent we split into two groups and the strongest fastest members went first with some of our top notch sherpas, while I led the second team to the top very slowly and carefully with another group of superb Sherpas.

Two weeks ago, we also had an expedition to Mount Cho Oyu, 6th highest mountain on Earth, located near Everest, considered to be the world's easiest of the 8000 metre, 26,000 foot high mountains, and the best possible preparation for climbing Everest. Our team of women and men of all ages was led by Scott Patch, who has also been instructing our Glacier Schools. On Cho Oyu in May of 2013, ours was the only expedition to reach the summit so far this year. What an honour!

Also at the end of May, our expedition of men and women on the Tibet side of Everest, led by Himalayan veteran Arnold Coster, had the highest success rate of any team, with 11 out of 14 members and 12 Sherpas reaching the top! IN FACT, our Nepal and Tibet Everest teams met each other on the summit on the 23rd of May after not seeing each other for over 40 days since departing Kathmandu.Back to top

This month, I am really busy working with the Mount Everest Foundation to clean up the human waste produced in basecamp and also in the rebuilding of a 90 year old Sherpa convent (Nepal's oldest) just a few days below basecamp. We are working with a dedicated team of volunteer engineers, architects, and designers from around the world. Want to become more involved? Please check out our www.ServiceTrek.org

Now I am planning our exciting Summer of 7 summits, so please join me and our team of men and women of all ages and abilities with just a few spots left in the expedition for SummitClimb's 1st Annual 11 day July-August Mount Elbrus expedition to Europe's highest but very easy summit, led by yours truly, Dan Mazur. It's time to sign up now and get your visas so please contact me right away. www.ElbrusSummitClimb.com

This Autumn, during September, I am personally looking forward to leading our team of men and women for my 6th expedition to Mount Cho Oyu, one of my all-time favourites. There is no better preparation for climbing Everest than Cho Oyu, the world's most accessible of the 8000 metre, 26,000 foot high peaks, located in Tibet. The sign up period is open, with just a few spots left in the team, so please contact me right away. www.ChoOyuClimb.com .

Also, we have our leader Arnold Coster taking a group up Shishapangma, so come on and join that one too. Shishapangma is the world's 14th highest mountain and less crowded than Cho Oyu. You could even combine both into a "double-header" and earn a 20% discount. www.ShishaPangmaClimb.com .

Alejandro prepares to step onto rock-band number 2 towards the summit. Camp 2 with a storm behind.

In October, I am off to Nepal for my 7th expedition to Mount Ama Dablam, moderately technical climbing on Asia's most famous rock, ice, and snow climb. This is a great climb for men and women of all ages and abilities who like to rock-climb. You don’t need to be an expert, as the climbing is easy and well protected with good fixed ropes to the summit on very good quality granite, and solid snow, which is mostly considered moderate scrambling and the hardest pitch is about 15 metres / 50 feet of grades are UIAGM - French 3+, British Severe, North American 5.6, Australian 12. I am leading the trip during 29 days in October so please join me. Can't make the dates? We now offer the chance to join any time from October to the end of November for your flexibility. Now is the time to sign up as this tam fills quickly. www.AmaDablamClimb.com . Back to top

Guess, what, I am writing to you from the roof of a luxurious but inexpensive hotel in ancient Kathmandu. Around me I see snowcapped Himalayan giants towering above lush green foothills. Eagles and ravens soar in the breezes beneath puffy cotton clouds and sparkling blue skies. Prayer flags flutter atop brick houses amidst winding lanes where venerable trees shade children playing marbles and laughing. Car horns toot, prayer bells tinkle, and bicycle peddlers hawk their wares, shouting a sing-song of sales. Golden yellow curries and crispy roasting vegetables waft simmering smells from kitchen windows.

It is now time to join our walks, climbs, and service treks for Summer and Autumn 2013. I warmly welcome you to team up with our friendly groups this year, and also consider 2014. Our trips feature fun teams of men and women of all ages with excellent leaders, top sherpas, fine food, good equipment, and a full-service approach, with everything you need, door to door, all at very affordable prices.

By way of introduction, my name is Dan Mazur, and I work for Summit Climb and Summit Trek, now in their 22nd year of summit climbing, high altitude training climbs, and walking to basecamp of our world's highest mountains. I am writing to you just 8 weeks before boarding a plane to Russia where I will be leading our exciting Elbrus expedition, the highest peak in all of Europe.

Our British, European, Australian, and American leaders and our sherpas and staff are very friendly, experienced, well trained, and loyal to the company. The food on our trips is delicious, and our company spends a lot of money on new equipment each year.

SummitClimb and SummitTrek have offices in UK, USA, Germany, Nepal, Tibet, and China, and our company has built good relations with local Nepal, Tibet, and China government climbing and walking permit officials, embassies, visa and border officials, sherpa labour organizations, porters, yak drivers, hotel owners, restaurateurs, and airlines. Because of their 20 year relationship with all these people and agencies, inside information, and local knowledge, SummitTrek and SummitClimb have very good prices.

CHO OYU or MOUNT SHISHA PANGMA - BEST TRAINING FOR EVEREST: Join us this September and October for Cho-Oyu at 8201 meters/26,906 feet, known to be one of the most accessible of the world’s fourteen 8,000 meter/26,500 foot mountains and perhaps the best training for Everest. This is because the ascent to the summit plateau is short and direct, with a few small technical sections, less than 6 meters/20 feet high, climbed using fixed lines. Additionally, the mountain can be easily reached by four-wheel-drive vehicle, and the trail to camp 1 at 6,400 meters/21,100 feet, is basically a steep walk on talus slopes, often done in sturdy leather trekking boots with good ankle support. FOR MORE PLEASE GO TO www.ExpeditionChoOyu.com .

Shishapangma is the lowest of the world's 14 eight thousand meter, 26,000 foot high mountains, located in Tibet near Everest. Led by Arnold Coster who teaches you everything you need to know. There is perhaps no better preparation for Everest. 20% discount off of Shishapangma if you combine with Cho Oyu. Optional trip to Lhasa, add $2450. www.ShishapangmaExpedition.com .

CHARITY/NON-PROFIT NEWS: We have just returned from a new project we have been involved in with a team of engineers, treating the waste coming from Everest base camp, and turning it into useful methane gas for cooking, as well as valuable fertilizer to be used by local farmers. The trek was a grand success and offered more insight into how to make this waste into a sustainable fuel source in the Khumbu Valley. Please tell of your friends and view the latest news at: www.ServiceTrekNews.org ! Thanks

Interested in the charity and service side of mountain adventure? Please get involved via donating to the Mount Everest Foundation at www.WaysYouCanHelp.org to support and work together with local families living near Everest with hospitals, schools, environmental and cultural preservation. DO MORE and get your hands dirty and help dig in with our twice yearly www.EverestServiceWalk.org and www.ServiceTrek.org .

On this trek you will have the opportunity join glacier Dr. Ulyana Horodyskyj and participate in research to understand the rate at which Mount Everest's glaciers are melting. NEW SHERPA TRAINING SCHOOL: www.SherpaClimbingSchool.org . Working together with the Mount Everest Foundation for Sustainable Development (MEFSD), we need new and used good-quality climbing and walking equipment and clothing, as well as funds for office expense. The MEFSD is building a new school for training 30 aspiring young sherpas, both men and women. Safety, technique, communication, education, health, environmental and cultural preservation and economic opportunities will be the goals for this new training course so that we can provide education, training and help local people in Nepal to earn a good living from sustainable tourism in their beautiful country for many years to come. CHARITY/NON-PROFIT TREKS:

CLIMATE CHANGE TREK: www.ClimateChangeTrek.org . 21 days in Nepal in October. REDUCED PRICE! - Cost: $2250, £1,450, €1,750. On this trek you will have the opportunity join glacier Dr. Ulyana Horodyskyj and participate in research to understand the rate at which Mount Everest's glaciers are melting. You will walk or paddle an inflatable boat around glacial lakes, to see, close-up, the collapsing ice walls, as well as collect data first hand. This data helps scientist to understand and forecast the glacier's future. Our goal is to determine the life cycles of these lakes and how they contribute to the bigger picture of the (diminishing) life cycle of the glacier. Your participation in this trek will help us to gain an understanding of what is happening to Mount Everest's glaciers.

REMOTE NEPAL SERVICE WALK: www.RemoteNepalServiceWalk.org : 13 days June or November - Donation: $1450, £950, €1050 (100% of your contribution for the trek and your international flight are tax deductible and gift aid eligible). Join local expert Dan Mazur, to explore the rolling hills and lush green valleys, with Everest hovering in the distance. Deliver needed medicines, books, supplies, health care, teach in the schools, consult on environmental and cultural preservation projects. Price includes everything for the walk: all trek costs, free sherpas, free hotels and free internal flights.
