Making a Difference on Everest

Everest's Ethical Edge: Making a Difference or Making Waves?

Our Everest Team of men and women from around the world with 8 members and 8 Sherpas is in Camp 4 and they plan to go for the summit tomorrow. Our members Roxanne and Scott summited Mount Lhotse (worlds 4th highest) last night. Congratulations!!!

In the heart of the Himalayas, where the majestic Everest stands tall, foreign and local climbers have not always been aware of their effect on the mountain environment, nor of its effect on them. Now efforts are underway to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who call this region home. Join us as we explore two initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of the Sherpa community and preserving the pristine environment of Everest.

A. Inexpensive Medical Kits for Sherpas

B. Waste Treatment Plant for Everest Base Camp Toilets

Cheap Medical Kits for Sherpas : The TrekMedKit is developed to provide local guides, climbers and trekkers clear easy to understand instructions and pictures in Nepalese, English, and Chinese and a supply of first-aid medications and supplies to treat the symptoms of mountain related illness, all at a very affordable price.

In the challenging terrain of Everest climb, access to medical supplies can be limited, especially for the Sherpa guides who play a vital role in supporting climbers. Recognizing this need, a new initiative has been launched to provide affordable medical kits to Sherpas.

A Waste Treatment Plant for Everest Base Camp

LATEST NEWS: This year the Government of Nepal made a new rule saying Everest climbers have to carry down their own toilet waste down from the upper camps to Base Camp. But there is no waste processing at BC, where the waste is tossed into a hole in the ground, so the toilet waste will continue to pile up even more in 'The Hole' at EBC, as depicted in the above photos. More at BBC News Article.

Porters Emptying Toilet Drums Onto The Ground

To address this challenge, a waste treatment plant is being built at Everest Base Camp. This facility utilizes innovative technology to safely and sustainably manage waste, minimizing the environmental impact on this fragile ecosystem. By implementing responsible waste management practices, we can help preserve the beauty of Everest for generations to come.

Human Waste is piling up at Everest Base Camp and nothing has been done about it. Until Now!! Please give generously to help deal with harmful impacts of untreated waste on Everest, and please share this appeal with all of your family, colleagues and friends Need more information?
